RCB vs DC Match Summary
The past of both teams hasn’t been very impressive if you see the number of times they have qualified for the playoffs, but it was a fight for the last strand of hopes for playoff qualification. RCB was right on the money but DC seemed sluggish on the field.
Axar in the absence of Rishabh Pant took the captaincy of the Capitals and opted to bowl first. Would you believe, DC dropped Rajat Patidar three times, and Will Jacks 2 times under an individual score of 15 runs? Patidar then scored a brilliant 52 and Will Jacks scored 41 in crucial time after Virat and du Plessis were caught.
Green and Lomror provided the finishing touch and RCB put up a total of 187 runs. DC, on the other hand, had a bad day against RCB. Their top-order got crushed too early as they were 4 down for just 30 runs.
Axar Patel played a captain’s knock of 57 runs and looked promising but he was left without any support from the other end. Three wickets from Yash Dayal at the crucial time were the key for RCB and they bowled out Delhi Capitals under 140 runs winning the match by 47 runs.
CSK vs RR Match Summary
It was a must-win match for CSK to make a high ground for the qualification against DC, RCB and LSG and they showed their best performance out in the field. Winning the toss, Sanju Samson opted to bat first. It looked like a dry surface but there was certainly help for pacers.
Kudos to Tushar, Thakur, and Theekshana as they kept the RR openers at bay in the powerplay. They shut batters like Jaiswal and Buttler down in the batting powerplay which is not as easy as it sounds. Simarjeet drew the first blood by dismissing Jaiswal and took Buttler in his second over. The proceedings just got worse for RR moving forward.
Simarjeet also dismissed skipper Samson in the 15th over leaving RR selfshoked. However, an impressive 47 by Riyan Parag and 20-odd runs from Jurel helped RR to post 141.
It was all up to the CSK batters and the powerplay. Rachin Ravindra got CSK a flying start along with the skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad. Daryl Mitchell also played a crucial knock in the middle. However, there was a flurry of wickets in the middle overs that would have made RR fans a little hopeful but it didn’t last long as skipper Gaikwad led his team home with a mature innings.
He got good support from Shivam Dube and young sensation Samir Rijvi. Following a good team effort at the right time, CSK won the game with 5 wickets remaining.
IPL POINTS TABLE 2024
RCB now holds the 5th position in the IPL Points Table after this win. They possess a good NNR and they will play their last match against Chennai Super Kings and it will be a knock-out match for both.
With this win, CSK are now the third-ranked team in the IPL points Table 2024. They have played 13 matches and have won 7 and the better NRR lead them above SRH.
Rajasthan Royals are still at number two in the updated IPL points Table and are left with 2 matches.
