Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have initiated the “Go Green” initiative. The initiative began to spread awareness about environmental protection and the importance of recycling. RCB played their first match in Green Jersey in 2011 against Kochi Tuskers Kerala.

What is the Go Green Initiative?

The “Go Green” initiative commenced as a movement to protect the Environment and promote the importance of the conservation of the Environment. The drive involves wearing Green coloured jerseys by the players of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) squad.

The team management claims that the jerseys worn by the players are not only green or blue to spread awareness about environmental protection, but they are 100 per cent made of recycled materials. They are also available for the general public on the team’s website and application to spread awareness for the cause.

RCB performances in Green Jersey


RCB has not had a great run in the Green or Blue jersey. They don’t wear it for luck since they have lost a reasonable number of matches wearing the green or blue jersey. The initiative began with the game against Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011. Since 2011, RCB has played a match in green jersey every year.

Over the years, RCB has played 12 games wearing the green jersey but has managed to win only 3 games. In 2016, RCB created havoc on the ground in their Green Jersey against Gujarat Lions. The team build a gigantic mountain of 248 runs. Virat Kohli and Ab de Villiers scored a century each. The team arranged CNG rickshaws for their fans to reach the stadium. The game remains memorable in the hearts of the fans.

RCB vs RR, 2018


RCB has played once against the Royals in the green jersey in 2018. RR gave an easy defeat to RCB and won the game with 18 runs. We look forward to the upcoming 32nd Match of the TATA IPL 2023 between RCB and RR, Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
