IPL 2024: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the first match of India Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 6 wickets at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Defending Champions started the new season with a victory and Ruturaj Gaikwad won his first match as a captain of Chennai Super Kings. The Player of the match was Mustafizur Rahman, who took four crucial wickets for CSK in the opening match of TATA IPL: 2024.
A good start by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the TATA IPL 2024 as they played excellent cricket with bat and ball. However, Newly appointed captain Ruturaj Gaikwad also did a good job, he rotated the bowler at the right time especially the use of Mustafizur Rahman who bowled a great spell.
Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their first match of TATA IPL 2024 but they played good cricket with bat however, the bowling wasn’t good at all. RCB need to improve their bowling otherwise it might become their weakness in the upcoming matches like middle-order batting was the weakness of RCB in the IPL 2023.
TATA IPL 2024 CSK vs RCB Match Summary:
Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and they decided to bat first however this decision came in the favour of starting four overs. Skipper Faf du Plessis played aggressively and scored 35 runs in 23 balls but after his wicket, Chennai Super Kings changed the game’s momentum in their favour. RCB lost three wickets in the first powerplay of the first inning.
However, Virat Kohli and Cameron Green made a small partnership of 35 runs for the fourth wicket but this didn’t last long and Kohli got out by scoring just 21 runs in 20 balls. But, later on, Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat made a crucial partnership of 95 runs. The Youngster Anuj Rawat scored 48 runs in 25 balls with 3 sixes and 4 fours.
Dinesh Karthik scored 38 runs in 26 balls with 2 sixes and 3 fours and led RCB to a decent total of 173 runs in 20 overs. From the Chennai Super Kings bowling department, Mustafizur Rahman took four wickets in his four overs, whereas Deepak Chahar took one wicket.
In the second inning, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a good start as they made 62 runs with the loss of one wicket. Rachin Ravindra played an aggressive inning of 37 runs in 15 balls however, CSK batters didn’t lose the wicket easily, they made small partnerships which ultimately led CSK to win their first match of IPL 2024.
Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube stood till last and led CSK to victory by scoring 25 and 34 runs, respectively. From the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bowling department, Cameron Green took two wickets whereas Yash Dayal and Karn Sharma took one wicket each in the first match of TATA IPL 2024 against CSK.
