IPL 2023 start date revealed? IPL 2023 likely to start on April 1st: Reports: In the latest turn of events, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering 1st April 2023 as the most probable date to begin the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
A report published in ESPNcricinfo stated that while the board is contemplating scheduling IPL 2023 opener on April 1st, the end date of the 10-team tournament isn’t fixed yet. It added that the BCCI is working out the issue of the availability of foreign players in the IPL before it officially formalises the dates of the T20 event.
The Indian cricket board would want to conclude the league in May itself since the international calendar will be packed afterwards. England is scheduled to play a one-off test with Ireland in the first week of June. Moreover, the World Test Championship final at the Oval and the Ashes are also scheduled to commence in the month of June itself.
With such tight action lined ahead, the BCCI won’t fancy taking a risk of losing foreign players towards the end of the event and hence wrapping the IPL 2023 by the end of May will be a sensible and wise decision.
The sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be back in its traditional home and away fixture. Due to the constraints posed by COVID, BCCI had to plan & schedule the Indian T20 league in just a handful of venues.
