The IPL 2023 auction will begin on December 23. The teams will be keen to make an impact on the table before the games begin on the field. Wicket-keepers have always been a crucial part of the game. Teams with good wicketkeeper batters have done well in the league. Chennai Super Kings over the years, Mumbai Indians with De Kock in 2019 and 2020, and Gujarat with Matthew Wade in 2022. This year too, the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Kolkata Knight Riders will be looking for wicketkeepers. Here is a look at the top wicket-keeping options:
1) Nicholas Pooran will be at the IPL 2023 Auction:
Nicholas Pooran has been getting big prices since the past two auctions. It will be exciting to see how the teams deal with him in the IPL 2023 Auction. This West Indian has a lot to offer. He can be a finisher; he can also bat at the top of the order. He is a good keeper too. His experience in the global T20 leagues adds immense value to his resume. His base price is 2 crore Indian rupees.
2) Tom Banton will be at the IPL 2023 Auction:
Tom Banton has previously associated with the Kolkata Knight Riders. He was bought by them last season. He did not get any game time but there is a lot of buzz around his name. The teams have titled him as “Next Kevin Pietersen”. Tom will be looking for a team that can give him the role that he wants. KKR can go back for him. He can open for them and can keep wickets too. The Gujarat Titans can consider him as they need a backup for Matthew Wade. The Punjab Kings can consider him too.
3) Joshua Phillipe:
Joshua Phillipe was bought by RCB a year ago. He is a swash-buckling opener who can keep wickets too. He is having a decent BBL 2022. But his numbers were elite last season. He was a hot property in the Australian domestic circuit. He bats at a strike rate of 140. RCB, who have Anuj Rawat as their opening option can consider his name. RCB have had a poor run rate in the powerplay and Joshua can help them solve that issue.
4) Litton Das:
This Bangladeshi player has always had high hopes in the IPL Auction. IPL 2023 Auction will also be the same thing for him. But are the franchises excited about his name? That is a big question! He led the Bangladesh team and that improves his portfolio.
5) Heinrich Klaassen will be at the IPL 2023 Auction:
Heinrich Klaassen has a good game against spin. He just likes to feat on bowlers like Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. Based on those lines the teams can effectively bid for him. He has been associated with RR and RCB earlier. His performance in the India tour of South Africa will add value to his application. There is word around that the Sunrisers Hyderabad will be targeting him.
