IPL 2023 Auction: Total Players Registered, Purse Value, List of Players at Base Prices: Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council confirms that a total of 991 players from across the globe have registered for the upcoming Tata IPL 2023 Auction which is scheduled to be held in Kochin on 23rd December. Apart from this, the stats also showed the breakdown of the number of players from full member nations and associate nations.

The list of 991 players includes 185 capped players, 786 uncapped and 20 players from associate nations. Among the 185 capped players, 19 are from India itself. 

The list also includes 91 Indian uncapped players who have previously taken part in the league and 604 overseas.

Australians have shown up in huge numbers for the IPL 2023 auction as they account for 57 players, which is the most among the 14 foreign countries. Meanwhile, the breakdown of the rest of the countries can be seen in the table given below.

“If every franchise were to have a maximum of 25 players in their squad, 87 players are available to be bought in the auction (of which up to 30 players can be overseas players),” a statement from BCCI secretary Jay Shah said.

This year 20 players from the associate nations have registered to take part in the IPL 2023. 

Interestingly, in another development, each IPL franchise will have an additional sum of INR 5 Crore, which will be added to the left-over purse value following the player’s retentions, for the IPL 2023 auction.
