IPL 2023 Auction: 2 Players RCB may target in IPL 2023 Auction: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ended their last IPL season in fourth place as they got knocked out of the tournament in the second eliminator. RCB lost the eliminator to Rajasthan Royals (RR) and marked an end to their encouraging campaign.

Bangalore had a formidable squad in the Tata IPL 2022 and they have held most of the players from the squad for the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well. In the recent player retention, RCB has retained a majority of its players. Their list of released players contains just five players – Jason Behrendorff (traded), Sherfane Rutherford, Chama Milind, Aneeshwar Gautam, Luvnith Sisodia.

Although the franchise doesn’t have a lot of gaps to fill in the IPL 2023 Auction, it will certainly look to bag some steal deals to add more firepower to the settled squad. RCB has INR 8.75 Crore of purse value left to spend on the players during the upcoming IPL 2023 Auction, which will be held on December 23.

Joshua Little:

Ireland’s young left-arm seamer Joshua Little has taken the cricketing world by storm following an outrageous bowling display in the recently completed T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Little, was amongst the top wicket-takers in the tournament with 11 scalps at an economy of under 7.

The pacer has a knack for bowling in every phase of the innings with matching precisions. He can be lethal at the powerplay and can deliver an over or two in the middle phase as well. His death bowling has been simply impeccable.

Notably, RCB doesn’t have a lot of death bowlers in its squad. The franchise has struggled more often than not in the death overs. Harshal Patel, their only specialist death-over bowler, has found it tricky to get into the groove.

Nicholas Pooran:

Previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Nicholas Pooran has now become a free agent after SRH decided to release him ahead of the Tata IPL 2023 Auction. Although the stats don’t clearly justify the power Pooran possesses, the cricketer has scored a little over 900 runs so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 47 matches at a strike rate of 151.24.

In the last season of the tournament, RCB had the services of Glenn Maxwell in the middle order. However, the Aussie all-rounder has sustained an injury and there is no clarity on his IPL participation. It will be an issue for RCB if Maxwell fails to recover on time for the IPL 2023.

In such a case, Nicholas Pooran can provide a balance to the RCB squad with his blistering batting performances. The Caribbean cricketer has all the abilities in the world to power his team to a massive total in no time.

RCB might take a look at Nicholas Pooran at the IPL 2023 Auction as a batting cover for Glenn Maxwell.
