Big news coming up as KKR might think of changing the captain of the side. Shubman Gill is likely to be appointed as the team lead. As per the reports and Aakash Chopra also discussed in his Facebook Video that Shubman Gill is the guy to look up to as a captain for now.
The former KKR batsman feels that Kolkata Knight Riders should release Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Kartik, and Sunil Narine. Subhman Gill should be given the role of the captain and the whole team should be made around him.
KKR retentions in Auctions of IPL 2021:
“KKR should leave Eoin Morgan as a leader, he is an overseas player and might not be good at the tactics. However, Subhman Gill should be appointed captain of the side,” Aakash Chopra.
Andre Russell did not have a good season last time but he is the rockstar of T20 cricket. You cannot afford to lose him. If you release him to the auctions, he will cost you way more expensive. The same is the case with Varun Chakravarthy. He is a talented young mystery spinner and every franchise wants these players. Kolkata Knight Riders should think of a three-year strategy from here. Shubman Gill should be given Captaincy and the team should revolve around him.
In 2018, Delhi Capitals gave the captaincy to Shreyas Iyer. The coaching staff and members played a key role in molding him as a good captain. After two years he reached the maiden finals of the Indian Premier League. A similar should be done with Gill. He can change the fortunes of the franchise.
“As the Auctions are close, KKR should think of retaining three main players, Shubman Gill, Varun Chakravarthy, and Andre Russell,” he added.
Players to be released by KKR in IPL 2021 Auctions:
During his Facebook video, he also discussed about Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, and Sunil Narine. The renowned commentator opined his thoughts, saying KKR should let Karthik, Morgan, Cummins, and Narine go. They have to find a replacement for them.
Dinesh Karthik is not gonna play for three years with the franchise, Eoin Morgan should be released. Pat Cummins was brought by KKR for a hefty price of 15.5 crores, you should leave him for the auctions. If KKR retains him, they might lose the huge budget. Sunil Narine has the same story, not a good season with ball and bat.
But if KKR wants, they can buy them form the auctions, they will be much cheaper.
“They should release Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins, and Sunil Narine and build a strong team replacing them. They can buy these players from Auctions directly if they really want them,” Chopra added.
