Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021: KL Rahul led Kings XI Punjab witnessed a disappointing season as they could not make it to the business end and finished sixth in the league stages. KXIP with just a single win from the first seven games to five back to back wins, keeping playoffs hope alive showed both sides of the coin. Although KXIP could not get through the season softly but they got some key players whom they world definitely want to retain for the next season of the Indian Premier League.

KL Rahul:
The Karnataka batsman was producing fire from the bat in IPL 2020. KL Rahul is with Kings XI Punjab for 3 years now and he scored more than 500 runs in all three seasons. This season was no different for him in terms of batting.
Rahul scored 670 runs in just 14 games with a strike rate of 129 and an average of 55.83. He remained unbeaten in the highest run-getters race in IPL 2020.
Talking about the captaincy, Rahul looked nervous at the start but later on found his feet. He managed to rotate the bowlers nicely throughout. Kings XI Punjab will go after him in IPL 2021.
Mayank Agarwal:
A surprising element came in the IPL as Mayank Agarwal came to open with the skipper Rahul. Before IPL 2020 Mayank was known as the test opener but he showed can bat in shorter formats too.
Playing with Rahul, he overshadowed him while batting and never looked out of form. Mayank in just 11 games smashed 424 runs with a strike rate of over 150 and averaging 38. He must be the name in the list of retentions for Kings XI Punjab.
Mohd. Shami:
The Indian pacer is now the regular face featuring as the performers of the season. Being the lone warrior throughout the tournament for the KXIP bowling unit, Shami delivered a remembering performance in IPL 2020.
The KXIP lead pacer picked 20 scalps in just 14 games for KXIP with an economy of 8.57. He played a key role in winning games for Punjab and will get a spot back in the Kings XI Punjab franchise.
Nicholas Pooran:
The West Indies batsman was not at the peak of his touch in IPL 2020 but managed to produce some match-winning knocks. Looking to three years down the line from here, he will play a key role in KXIP’s success. In his 14 appearances, the West Indies batsman scored 353 runs with a strike rate of over 165.
Ravi Bishnoi:
The young leg-spinner was on and off the play for Kings XI Punjab. However, the 20 years old player showed intent with bowling in all matches he got. There will be a lot of expectations with the young spinner as a lot of cricket is to be played. Punjab will retain him in IPL 2021 Auctions as he can be a key match-winner.
