IPL 2021: RCB appoints Sanjay Bangar as batting consultant for IPL 2021

IPL 2021: RCB appoints Sanjay Bangar as batting consultant for IPL 2021.

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021: Former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar has been appointed as the new batting consultant by Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) for IPL fourteenth edition. The Bangalore franchise took Twitter handle to inform the fans and supporters about the development.

“We are delighted to welcome Sanjay Bangar to the RCB Family as a batting consultant for #IPL2021! Welcome aboard, Coach!#PlayBold #WeAreChallengers #NowARoyalChallenger,” read the caption on the tweet by RCB’s official Twitter account.

Bangar was associated with Indian national side as the batting coach from 204-2019. He was later replaced by Vikram Rathore as the batting coach in the Indian side in September 2019.

The 48-years old former Indian cricketer was associated with Kings XI Punjab in January 2014 as the assistant coach. Later, Bangar was promoted and given the role of the head coach and the franchise went to its maiden IPL final under his support. Kings XI Punjab has been to final just once and it was under Sanjay Bangar. He then coached the franchise for the next three years before giving up on his role due to conflict of interest rules with BCCI.

The 48-year-old will join Mike Hesson, the director of cricket operations for RCB and Simon Katich, the head coach as a part of the coaching team. The Bangalore-based franchise also has Sridharan Sriram as batting and spin-bowling coach, with Adam Griffith being the bowling coach.

RCB has released 10 players when retained players were announced. In addition to the retention, RCB has traded-in Harshal Patel and Daniel Sams in an all-cash deal with Delhi Capitals. It will be interesting to watch, the franchise in the coming auction on 18th February in Chennai.

Sanjay Bangar knows Virat Kohli as he has coached him in Indian side also. It can be associated as the good move by RCB and this can probably end the title drought for RCB. However, the more depends upon the choice of players they pick in the coming IPL auction.
