IPL 2021 Most Expensive Players: Only a few more weeks are left for the mega-event to begin. The fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League is around the corner and if the reports are to be believed, the IPL 2021 will begin on the 11th of April while it may stretch up to the second week of June. Last month, the IPL auction was also conducted to ensure that there is no further delay in the upcoming edition of the IPL just like the previous edition.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction was held on 18th February in Chennai and 57 players have been picked by the franchises out of 292 players. The IPL 2021 took an unexpected turn as many players who looked like they surely deserve a bid went unsold, however, many unpredictable bids were placed by the franchises.

#1. Chris Morris – Rajasthan Royals (₹16.25 crore)

The first big surprise in IPL 2021 auction came as soon as Chris Morris entered the lot. Mumbai Indians started to show interest in the South African all-rounder and placed the welcome bid however, Rajasthan Royals were ready to take the driver’s seat and pulled the liver back to back.

#2. Kyle Jamieson –  Royal Challengers Bangalore (₹15 crores)

The New Zealand young all-rounder has kickstarted his international run with a bang. He bagged the second-highest bid in the recently concluded IPL auction. Royal Challengers Bangalore will take the services of 26 years old cricketer.

#3. Glenn Maxwell – Royal Challengers Bangalore (₹14.25 crores)

The Australian explosive all-rounder was expected to get an IPL contract, however, no one predicted that he will go on to become the third-highest pick in the IPL 2021 Auction. Despite the embarrassing failure in the IPL 2020, Royal Challengers Bangalore showed trust in the Aussie all-rounder. It will be interesting to watch his performance alongside Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.

IPL has always rewarded deserving players. The Australian pacer, Jhye Richardson is brought by Punjab Kings for whopping INR 14 Crores. Richardson was also the leading wicket-taker in the Big Bash League season 10 with 29 scalps under his belt.

Karnataka all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham broke the record of most expensive uncapped Indian Player. He went ahead of Krunal Pandya and bagged 9.25 Crores from Chennai Super Kings in the recent IPL auction. Gowtham had a few outings last season playing for Punjab Kings, while he can play a key role for Chennai Super Kings considering the surface at their home.

Much like Krishnappa Gowtham, Riley Meredith also became the most expensive overseas uncapped player. The young Aussie pacer placed franchises into a bidding war and picked a hefty amount from Punjab Kings at the end.
