IPL 2021 Auction: The uncapped Karnataka all-rounder, Krishnappa Gowtham has made a record as he gets picked by Chennai Super Kings for whopping INR 9.25 Crores at the ongoing IPL 2021 auctions. The all-rounder is the most expensive Indian uncapped players brought in any auction till now as reported by news agency ANI.

The right-handed batsman and off-spinner entered the fourteenth edition of Indian Premier League auction with a base price of INR 20 Lakhs. Gowtham came into limelight in 2018 after he continuously hit towering sixes and made runs for his side. He has 186 runs form 24 IPL games. His best performances came in 2018 where he smacked bowlers with a strike rate of 196.87 and amassed 126 runs.

In 2018 and 2019 cash-rich league, Gowtham gave his services to Rajasthan Royals while he was picked by Punjab Kings ahead of the IPL 2020 season. Now he will be playing along-side MS Dhoni in the coming edition of Indian Premier League.

The all-rounder has played 62 T20 games and scored 592 runs at a strike rate of 159.24.

Along with these good runs, Gowtham has also scalped 41 wickets in these games with an economy rate of 7.60 runs per over.

Krishnappa Gowtham will be a great addition to CSK’s arsenal as he can become a key player at times for the three-times champion. He will act as the fourth all-rounder option for CSK along with Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.

As of now, Jadeja is injured and no clarity is there in his fitness and form lately. Gowtham will play a major role for CSK and most of the games will be played at MA Chidambaram and the off-spinner will be important for that surface.
