India Women vs Sri Lanka Women T20I Series: Full Schedule, Squads, Match Timings, and How to Watch Live
The Indian Women's National Cricket Team is set to square off with Sri Lanka in a five-match IDFC FIRST BANK Twenty-Twenty series from the 21st of December to 30th of December, with the matches to be played in Vizag & Trivandrum. This forthcoming bilateral series versus Sri Lanka will be the first outing of the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side since their ODI World Cup Triumph in Navi Mumbai in November.
The focus now shifts to the ICC Women's 20-20 World Cup in England, scheduled to take place next year. The T20 squad of the Women in Blue will continue to be built around the core group of players that helped them secure their maiden World Cup triumph. Pace bowler Renuka Singh Thakur is back in contention after missing the T20i series versus England due to an injury.
But Renuka's return boosts the strength of the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side as she had a memorable campaign with the ball in the recently concluded Women's ODI World Cup.
The Indian team has also been bolstered by the selection of 19-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder Vaishnavi Sharma, a rising star in the making. She was the highest wicket taker in this year's Women's Under-19 ODI World Cup with 17 scalps to her name and her performance was key in helping India defend the trophy.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have named a strong 15-player squad for their tour of India, with experienced campaigner Chamari Athapaththu retaining the leadership duties as the team prepares for the build up of next year's T20 World Cup in England.
The vice-captain duties will be handled by Harshitha Samarawickrama while teenage star Shashini Gimhani makes her return to the International setup for the first time since August of 2024. Madushani Nimesha has also received her maiden call-up to the team.
The 5-match Twenty-Twenty series between the two sides will commence from the 21st of December onwards in the city of Vizag, which is scheduled to play host to the first two conests of the series. The, the action shifts to the state of Kerala where Thiruvananthapuram will be hosting the reamaining 3 encounters.
