India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026: PCB in Talks With ICC, February 15 Match Likely

The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is likely to go as scheduled after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) are involved in the formal discussions to resolve the boycott issue. As per the reports from The Times of India, Pakistan will play against India on February 15, 2026, at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

However, this decision comes after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) invoked the force majeure to justify their decision to boycott the India vs Pakistan match and decided not to play against India after the instructions from the Pakistan Government. But ICC has questioned the PCB’s move, especially when they are ready to play the rest of the games in the tournament.ent.

PCB Softens Stance After ICC Response

According to the Times of India report, the Pakistan Cricket Board is reconsidering its stance after receiving a detailed response from the ICC, as Pakistan might face financial and contract ban if the India vs Pakistan match didn’t take place.

With this, ICC also made it clear that force majeure can only be applied under unavoidable circumstances, and this selective withdrawal from a one game while playing other games in the tournament could lead to breach of participation rules.

ICC Sends Officials to Mediate Talks

The ICC sent two senior representatives, Imran Khawaja and Mubashir Usmani, to Lahore to have direct discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board representatives. This talk aimed to resolve the deadlock situation for the much-awaited India vs Pakistan so that the tournament can proceed smoothly without any disturbances.

Sri Lanka Cricket and Bangladesh get Involved.

As the host of the T20 World Cup 2026, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has also requested Pakistan to reconsider its stance. SLC highlighted the issue and said that the India vs Pakistan match would generate massive revenue and tourism benefits, and its cancellation would cause some serious financial losses.

However, Bangladesh, which had already been out of the tournament after boycotting the tournament in India, were also part of the discussions. BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul travelled to Lahore to meet PCB officials.
