India VS Pakistan are two teams who always have great contests. Even if there is a match of marbles between both the teams the competition will be cut-throat. Following the legacy of the India VS Pakistan World Cup games and their epic rivalry, India and Pakistan women took on each other on Sunday at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. India won the match by 8 wickets. It was a team performance by the bowling unit as they picked 1 and 2 wickets each to wrap up the women in green. Here is an in-depth look:

Toss was won by the Pakistan Women and they opted to bat. As we lost some time due to rains, the match was reduced to 18 overs per innings.

India VS Pakistan: Pakistan Women Batting Innings:

The Pakistani team was the first to bat. The innings never looked settled as the Indian bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals. The first spell was of Meghana Singh and she was swinging the ball like Bhuvi. She made things difficult for the openers. The question that came out of the syllabus was Shafali Verma. Shafali came in the middle overs and bowled a tight spell. It was a spell of 2 overs giving only 8 runs and taking a wicket.

Muneeba Ali and Aliya Riaz were two batters who relatively looked settled but their innings were also cut short. Sneh Rana, the spin bowling all-rounder was elite with the ball in hand. Her figures read 4 overs at the economy of 3.8, giving away a minimum of 15 runs only.

The Indian innings were off to a flyer. Someone had to come to Smirti and tell her that the match has 18 overs! (Sarcastically) She was batting on the 6th gear from the word go! Shafali Verma, the known pinch hitter of the team had to stand at the non-striker’s end and enjoy the glorious dominance of Smriti. The wicket of Shafali did fall but by that time, it was too late! The game had gone away.
