India vs England: The contingent of India and England have reached the iconic refurbished Sardar Patel Stadium and has already begun training. While some of the cricketers and support staff members from both sides have tweeted about the ground.
The star all-rounder of visiting camp, Ben Stokes is one of them. The newly refurbished Motera Stadium is the biggest cricketing ground in the world with 110,000 fans seating capacity. The stadium was closed in 2015 for reconstruction and since then no international game was played here.
India vs England third test which will be the pink ball test will be the beginning of the international cricket in the stadium. The third test will begin on the 24th of February. The stadium has hosted the knockout games of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and is all set to host the India vs England international fixture.
Ben Stokes quoted a video tweeted by England Cricket Board (ECB), which showed the England players doing sprints.
“Some stadium this is… and a bit of local music will help to get through the end,” wrote Stokes on Twitter account as the PA system at the venue played Vande Mataram.
Apart from Ben Stokes, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant tweeted a picture along with skipper Virat Kohli, spinner Axar Patel and Ishant Sharma at the gym.
“Great to have our first gym training session with the team at the new Motera stadium,” Rishanb Pant wrote.
“Fantastic to be at the new facility in Motera, great to see such world class facilities for cricket in Ahmedabad. Looking forward to taking the field here on 24th.”
Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya also tweeted a picture of him at gym, he said:
“As if the stadium in itself wasn’t enough.. the high performance gym setup and surpassed all expectations. Magnificent!”
