India vs England: Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of the Test series, BCCI plans for 50 per-cent crowd at Chepauk.

50 per-cent crowd at Chepauk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday officially made it clear that Ravindra Jadeja is ruled out of the whole Test series against England. The all-rounder took a blow on his thumb during the third test match at Sydney against Australia.

Jadeja suffered from thumb dislocation and had undergone surgery in Australia and will require at least six weeks of recovery time. The southpaw will head directly to National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore for his further rehabilitation.

According to the officials of BCCI, his participation in the limited over format is not confirmed and the panel will consider it after the Test series against England.

India and England are scheduled to play four Test matches, five Twenty-20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One Day Internationals (ODI) starting February 5. The first two tests will be held in Chennai while the last two will be hosted by Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad.

According to the sources, Hanuma Vihari will also require some time to get recover and is not part of the first two test squad against England. He will also head to the NCA Bangalore for his further rehabilitation program.

“He is out of Test series and he will take more than six weeks to recover completely. The selectors will take a call later, whether to include him in the team for the shorter formats,” a BCCI official told.

50 per-cent crowd capacity at Chepauk?

The board has officially asked the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TMCA) to check with the officials for the 50 per-cent seating capacity at the Chepauk Stadium. With the recent covid-19 scenes in India, the officials will have to do a detailed check, weather they should allow fans to enter the stadium or not. The Tamil Nadu government has allowed Theaters at 50 per-cent seating capacity.

Three-day quarantine at Chepauk:

The players of both sides have been asked to undergo a three-day quarantine protocol once they reach the venue. Players will be allowed to access the gym and train after the isolation period is complete. The players are asked to report the venue on 27th January.
