Maharashtra Cricket Association’s Hon. President Vikas Kakatkar on Monday announced that Gahunje Stadium is all set to host the three games ODI series between India and England. The series will begin on 23rd March.
Preparations are in full swing
All the preparations of the pitches and ground management are in full swing and MCA will be ready with the high standard surface in the stadium.
Pimpri-Chinchwad police Krishna Prakash visited the stadium to keep the check on the security arrangement for the series while several other authorities members also paid their visit to the ground.
Alok Kumar, Zonal Operations Manager, BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), also visited and inspected the safety plan for the venue, as well as BCCI Advance Party Manager Mr. Prashanat Bisht, along with STAR SPORTS representatives visited to inspect and check all the telecast facilities at the stadium, MCA said.
The three games will be conducted back to back with one day gap in between and all the games will be held on fresh wickets, MCA official told.
The decision to include the fans in the matches is yet to be taken by the authorities. Keeping in mind the state government’s rules and regulations and the permission the final call will be taken in the first week of March.
There was also a discussion to shift the final game to Mumbai so that the visiting team can board the flight to the UK directly. The MCA officials said that there is still no clarity in the thought and once BCCI leaves the conversation then only we will say something on that.
