India vs Bangladesh Test: Rohit Sharma ruled out of 1st Test against Bangladesh: Indian captain Rohit Sharma has been officially ruled out of the upcoming 1st Test against Bangladesh following a finger dislocation injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Sunday. He will be replaced by Abhimanyu Eshwaran in the Indian squad for 1st test.

The board also confirmed that KL Rahul will assume the leadership duties in Rohit’s absence while veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara will act as Rahul’s deputy for the game.

In the media advisory released by the BCCI, it mentioned that Rohit flew back to Mumbai after taking a blow in his left thumb in the 2nd ODI and has been advised of appropriate management of his injury.

“India captain Rohit Sharma met with a specialist in Mumbai for his left thumb injury, which he sustained during the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh. He has been advised appropriate management for this injury and will not be available for the first Test against Bangladesh,” BCCI wrote in a recent media advisory.

The Indian skipper suffered an injury while fielding in the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh. He then left the field and went for an immediate scan in the Dhaka hospital. Despite having an injured thumb, the Indian captain showed lion-hearted effort and came to bat when his side needed him the most. Although Rohit Sharma’s quickfire half-century in just 28 balls went in vain, his efforts kept India in the game till the very last over.

Meanwhile, two more replacements were brought into the Indian side – Navdeep Saini and Saurabh Kumar – for the injured Mohammad Shami and Ravindra Jadeja.
