India to play against South Africa and Afghanistan before T20 World Cup 2024

Team India is presently in South Africa for a total of eight matches, including three Twenty20 Internationals, three One-Day Internationals, and two Test matches. The first T20I of India’s tour to South Africa was abandoned due to rain yesterday. As a result, the Men in Blue’s level of anxiety has increased as the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will be held in the West Indies and the United States, will begin in June next year. After the first T20i match between the Men in Blue and the Proteas was called off due to rain, the Indian team now has only 5 T20i matches left to prepare for next year’s World Cup.

Two matches remain in the three-match T20i series between India and South Africa, and after that, the Men in Blue are scheduled to play a series of three T20i matches against Afghanistan in the first week of January, prior to the start of the IPL 2024 season, and the franchise-based T20 Tournament would be crucial for the players to secure their spots on the World Cup roster. The series against Afghanistan will be the Men in Blue’s final international assignment before the 2024 T20 World Cup. In such a case, the BCCI must find answers to these problems in India’s last five 20-20 matches.

Who will captain the squad in the 2024 T20 World Cup? Will it be Rohit Sharma, or will Hardik Pandya continue as captain after he recovers from injury? Will Virat Kohli, who has not played for India in the shortest format of the game since the humiliating loss to England in the 2022 World Cup semi-finals, be given a chance to participate in next year’s World Cup?

If Rohit Sharma is named captain of Team India for next year’s major event, who would be his opening partner? Who will play at No. 3 if Virat does not participate in the 2024 World Cup? All these questions remain unanswered, and the BCCI will have to act quickly to find the answers to these questions.
