India's Probable Playing XI for Asia Cup 2025 Announced by Experts

Indian cricket experts have been discussing the likely playing XI for the Indian team in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, which will be played in the T20 format in the UAE.

With the T20 World Cup 2026 also on the horizon, this tournament is key for players to prove their worth.

Opening Combination

For the opening spots, experts believe India will have many strong choices. Players like Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill are all in great form. Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma have been regular in the T20I team recently. 

Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, despite not playing T20Is since 2024, are strong contenders after good IPL 2025 performances. The final decision on the opening pair will be a tough one for the team management.

Middle Order and All-rounders

In the middle order, Suryakumar Yadav is expected to lead the batting. He is likely to bat at number four. For the number five spot, there's a strong competition between Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant. 

Experts suggest Hardik Pandya might be preferred due to his bowling ability, especially if Sanju Samson opens.

Other key middle-order batsmen and all-rounders likely to feature include Sai Sudharshan, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Washington Sundar. These players offer strong batting depth and various bowling options, which are vital in T20 cricket.

Bowling Attack

The bowling unit is expected to be led by Jasprit Bumrah, who is set to return to T20Is after missing some recent matches. Arshdeep Singh, who has been a consistent wicket-taker, will support him. For the third fast bowler's spot, Harshit Rana, who performed well against England, is a strong candidate.

India is also likely to include two seam-bowling all-rounders like Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy. 

The spin attack will be handled by Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, and Axar Patel, especially considering the UAE pitches, which often help spinners. Gautam Gambhir, as head coach, is known for his smart strategies and might surprise with his choices.
