IND vs SL: 3 Players who might not play a single game on Sri Lanka tour

IND vs SL: The squad for the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka was announced on Thursday by the Indian Selection Committee. Rohit Sharma will be leading the ODI squad, while Suryakumar Yadav is the new T20I captain. Shubman Gill is the vice captain for both sides. Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant are back for the ODI series.

There were a few unlucky players who were dropped from the tour: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mukesh Kumar. Meanwhile, there were some new faces for the IND vs SL. Both squads have 15 players each, but not everyone will get a chance to play. Hence, we will talk about three players who might not get a single match on the coming IND vs SL tour.

3. Harshit Rana

The Delhi-born pacer Harshit Rana has received his maiden ODI call for India. He was part of the first two T20Is against Zimbabwe but didn't play, and now he is selected for the IND vs SL ODI series. India already have Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, and then three spinners, and if Khaleel Ahmed is a backup pacer, we might not see Harshit playing a game in an ODI series. There are only three ODIs on the tour, and he might not get a game.

2. Khaleel Ahmed

The left-arm pacer made his comeback for India in the recently concluded Zimbabwe series. But he couldn't deliver it with the ball. But despite that, India have picked him for both the ODI and T20 series. However, with the pitches in Sri Lanka being helpful for the spinners, India might go with the bowling attack of Arshdeep, Siraj, and Hardik in T20Is. That's where it will be hard for Khaleel Ahmed to make it into the playing XI with only a limited matches to play.

1. Riyan Parag

The star all-rounder had a brilliant IPL 2024 with Rajasthan Royals, but he couldn't do well in his debut series. He had a pretty average start to his international career, but despite that, India have retained him and also picked him for the IND vs SL ODIs. But it will be difficult for him to get a game as India already have a packed middle order. In ODIs, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant are there, while in T20Is, Suryakumar, Hardik, Rinku, and Dube are there. That's where he might not get a game on this tour.
