IND vs SA: India batting coach Vikram Rathour was all in praise of keeper-batter KL Rahul for his excellent performance in the first Test against South Africa. He called him the ‘Crisis Man’ of the team and hailed his effort.

KL Rahul stood tall for the team when no one did. He yet again shined at the big stage for the team and under pressure brought up his best that not only helped him but also bailed India out of trouble when it seemed nothing went their way.

India was put into bat first in the first IND vs SA Test and they had a horrendous outing. They were reeling at 24/3. But after that, Virat Kohli (38) and Shreyas Iyer (31) batted well and made sure that they didn’t lose more wickets in the first session.

However, the start of the second session in the IND vs SA Test didn’t go India’s way as they lost Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer both. It seemed that they would get bundled out for just under 150 in the first innings. But who knew KL Rahul would yet again be the main man for the team.

Adopting the new role of batting in the middle order, KL Rahul sensed the need of the hour and played some fine strokes. He realised the importance of playing shots and played some breathtaking shorts. He showed great discipline to the balls outside off but also punished bad balls.

Vikram Rathour was in awe of KL Rahul’s innings in the first IND vs SA Test. He called him the crisis man and also highlighted how every time he steps up at difficult situations for the team. He added:

“Rahul is turning out to be a man of crisis for us. Every time, there are tough situations, he is the guy who handles it well for us. Nothing special, he was clear with his game plans, defended the right balls, attacked the right ones.”
