Shubman Gill hits maiden century: India achieved a massive total of 234 against New Zealand, riding on Shubman’s maiden century. India claimed the three-match T20I series by 2-1 after losing the first one. This 168-run win indeed is the highest-margin victory for India in T20Is. Shubman Gill, the opener for the Indian side, responded to critics who questioned his performance in T20I games since he failed to reach the fifty mark in his first five games. India have recorded their highest-ever score in this format against New Zealand. The Indian batters put on a fantastic show and scored the highest T20I total ever by India.

Shubman Gill struggled in the opening two games of the T20 series against New Zealand. However, Gill hit a century in the third game of the series. Just one month ago, Gill faced Sri Lanka in his first T20 International game. But now that he has achieved the feat to convert his first half-century into a century.

Shubman Gill made boundaries rain

Shubman Gill finished up his hundred off 54 balls in the 18th over of the Indian batting. He knocked 12 fours and 7 sixes in this inning. He finished his century in style with the help of a boundary. This is his first T20I century. He had a strike rate of 187.04 up until the century. He got his fifty in 35 balls, and then he quickly began to dominate over Kiwis. He had previously only scored one century in domestic T20s.

Shubman Gill is now the seventh Indian batsman to score a century in T20 internationals. Prior to him, India’s T20 centuries came from Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Deepak Hooda, and Suryakumar Yadav. Gill finished with an unbeaten 126 off 63 balls where he struck 7 sixes and 12 fours.

Shubman Gill is also now the newest member (fifth player) of the Indian side to record a century in all three international cricket formats. Prior to Shubman Gill, this accomplishment has already been accomplished by Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli.
