Indian skipper Rohit Sharma joined MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Babar Azam in the elite list of players on Tuesday (24th January). He achieved the feat after he was announced as the captain of the ICC ODI Team of the Year 2023. 

Rohit Sharma joined the likes of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Babar Azam in the list of players who have been named as the captain of the ICC ODI Team of the Year. While keeper-batter has achieved the feat four times in his career, Kohli achieved it the same number of times. Babar on the other hand was named skipper two times. 

Rohit was announced as the captain of the ICC ODI of the Year 2023. The India captain was given the opportunity to lead because of his heroics in the ODIs in 2023. He was exceptional as a leader of the team and guided India to the final of the World Cup 2023.

Rohit Sharma’s captaincy was lauded by many throughout the year. He also led from the front and scored 1255 runs at an average of 52. His aggressive intent at the top was one of the main factors behind his success in the 50-over format. 

Apart from Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj are the other Indian players that feature in the ICC ODI of the Year 2023. Apart from them, Travis Head, Daryl Mitchell, Heinrich Klaasen, Marco Jansen and  Adam Zampa also feature in the team.
