IND vs BAN: Confirmed! Rohit Sharma ruled out of 2nd Test against Bangladesh: Indian captain Rohit Sharma has now been ruled out of the upcoming 2nd Test between India and Bangladesh which is scheduled to commence on 22nd December at Mirpur. The official confirmation from the Indian management is yet to come, but, Cricbuzz has reported that the Indian skipper hasn’t reached his full recovery.

Sharma suffered a left thumb dislocation injury during the 2nd ODI between India and Bangladesh in Dhaka. He was later airlifted to Mumbai for further treatment following the primary medical care in Dhaka.

However, as per the report published in Cricbuzz, Rohit Sharma is yet to heal his injured thumb and he won’t be fit to play by Thursday when the 2nd test starts. Moreover, with team India already winning the opening test, the management doesn’t want to risk him and rush into things.

Notably, the 35-year-old cricketer dislocated his left thumb and suffered a split webbing while taking a catch in the slips during the 2nd ODI. He was immediately taken for primary medical treatment.

The report added that Rohit can manage to bat in the 2nd Test, but fielding is a major concern as it may aggravate the injury if the ball struck in the same area. The management and the medical team in Mumbai think that the injury can get serious if he again gets hurt in the same area.

As per the initial impressions of Rohit Sharma’s recovery, he is likely to make a comeback in the limited-over series against Sri Lanka in January 2023.

Interestingly, the development of Rohit Sharma being unavailable for the 2nd Test would relieve the Indian management as it would become hard to leave out a player from the playing11.

Team India won the 1st test against Bangladesh by 188 runs. Kuldeep Yadav was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his 8 wickets (which include a five-for) and 40 runs knock. The 2nd test between India and Bangladesh begins on 22nd December (Thursday) at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.
