IND vs AUS: Rohit, Virat chase big Tendulkar Record during India vs Australia ODIs: Team India will be back in action on September 22 with an ODI fixture against Australia in Mohali. The three-game ODI series between India and Australia begins here in Mohali. The India vs Australia ODI series is crucial as it will be the final stepping stone for both teams as they march ahead for the World Cup 2023, but, it will also have an element of personal record as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli close in on Sachin Tendulkar’s record against Australia.

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been India’s key performers against any side, but these two have been specifically dominating against Australia in the ODIs. Both of them enjoy batting against the formidable Australian outfit and have scored tons of runs.

A fact, that proves Rohit Sharma’s affection towards the Australian team is that he scored one of his three double-hundreds against Australia only.

As Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli take their guard against Australia in the third ODI in Rajkot, they will be up for a record. Both the batters have amassed eight centuries against Australia so far and the only man ahead of them is the legendary Sachin Tendulkar with nine tons against Australia.

So, the veteran Indian batters will have the opportunity to hunt down Sachin Tendulkar’s record and register their names in the history books.

Cricketers with most hundreds against Australia in ODIs:

  1. Sachin Tendulkar (India) – 9 Centuries in 70 innings
  2. Rohit Sharma (India) – 8 Centuries in 42 innings
  3. Virat Kohli (India) – 8 Centuries in 44 innings
  4. Desmond Haynes (West Indies) – 6 Centuries in 64 innings
  5. Faf du Plessis (South Africa) – 5 Centuries in 21 innings

Notably, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will not be part of the first two ODIs against Australia as they have been rested. They will be back in the final game, which will be played in Rajkot on September 27.

The two stalwarts of Indian cricket enjoyed a decent outing in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023 as well. While Rohit Sharma scored two consecutive half-centuries, Virat Kohli registered his 47th ODI ton against Pakistan.

The IND vs AUS three-game ODI series begins on September 22 in Mohali’s IS Bindra Stadium. The actions shift to Indore for the second fixture while the last game will be held in Rajkot. Full details of India vs Australia ODI series is given below:
