The squad for Australia’s Test series against India has been revealed. Todd Murphy, a young spinner aged 22, has been named to Cricket Australia’s 18-person team. The current status of all-rounder Cameron Green and ace bowler Mitchell Starc’s injuries is still a source of worry. Green was a member of the squad for the series’ inaugural game. Mitchell Starc will also be out of the first Test match in Nagpur. During the Test series against South Africa, Green and Starc sustained injuries. Both of these players’ fingers were fractured.

Four Spinners are in the Australian Squad

The Kangaroo lineup for the four-Test series against India consists of four spinners. Todd Murphy, an off-spinner, was quite vocal in first-class cricket. His exceptional performance earned him a spot on the team. Todd Murphy, Ashton Agar, Mitchell Swepson, and Nathan Lyon are selected as spin bowlers in the Australia team as a whole. Todd Murphy was chosen by Cricket Australia’s selectors over Adam Zampa because they felt it was acceptable.

The choice of Todd Murphy was supported by George Bailey, the team’s top selector for the Australian men’s cricket squad. According to the chief selector, Murphy’s play in the Sheffield Shield impressed me. In addition, he excelled for Australia A and Prime Minister XI. George Bailey claims that Todd Murphy has advanced quickly in domestic cricket and, more recently, dazzled with his displays for Australia A. These performances have made Murphy a compelling spinning option. He will get the chance to travel to India with Nathan Lyon and assistant coach Daniel Vettori thanks to his inclusion in the team, which will be extremely helpful for their growth. In addition to him, Lance Morris, an uncapped player, has earned a spot in the Kangaroos’ team.
