IND vs AUS 2023: After one month of enthralling Test cricket between India and Australia, it’s time for the white-ball series between the two cricketing heavyweights. The Rohit Sharma-led side pounded the visitors by the margin of 2-1 in the Test series and would be hoping for the same result in the ODIs as well.

The three-match series between India and Australia will kick-start from 17th March. The first game will be played in Mumbai whereas the second and third match is slated to take place in Visakhapatnam and Chennai on the 19th and 22nd March respectively. It’ll be an ideal preparation for both teams considering the Cricket World Cup 2023, which will take place later this year.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma made himself unavailable for the first ODI against Australia. When the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the 50-over series, they mentioned that the opening batter will join the second squad from the second game and in his absence, Hardik Pandya will captain the team.

Although the governing body mentioned that Rohit will be unavailable due to family reasons, but there were many speculations about the same. Many fans were left disappointed as they wanted to see the Indian skipper playing in front of his home crowd in Mumbai.

Now the reason behind Rohit missing the first ODI against Australia has finally been revealed. The right-hander’s brother-in-law is getting married and the date of that function is clashing with that of the opening encounter against Australia. Therefore he requested BCCI for a leave.

Rohit’s absence will be a blessing in disguise for the young opener Ishan Kishan. The southpaw after smashing a double century in the ODI against Bangladesh didn’t get the desired opportunity. He played in the middle order against New Zealand but couldn’t set the stage on fire. Therefore, it’ll be a great chance for him to make his case strong in the Indian side.

Shubman Gill is likely to open the innings alongside Ishan Kishan in the first ODI against Australia in Mumbai. There’s no brainer that Virat Kohli will bat at No.3 but there might be a change at No.4. Shreyas Iyer has reportedly been ruled out of the series due to injury and it is expected that Suryakumar Yadav will be there at No.4.

KL Rahul is likely to be the wicket-keeper and retain his spot at No.5 whereas Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur are likely to be three all-rounders. The team will have a lot of headaches related to the selection of the second spinner along with Ravindra Jadeja, but Kuldeep Yadav because of his performances of late wins our vote. The pace department will be boosted by Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj.
