Ravindra Jadeja, who is arguably one of the best fielders currently, dived to his right, standing at the short third man, to pluck a mouth-watering catch to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne. The incident happened during the 23rd over of Australia’s innings in the IND vs AUS 1st ODI at Wankhede Stadium when Labuschagne tried to cut Kuldeep Yadav behind the point region.
Marnus Labuschagne tried to play the short against the spin and got a thick outside edge which was grabbed by Ravindra Jadeja, who took a full-length dive to his right.
Ravindra Jadeja’s brilliant take was acknowledged by commentator Ravi Shastri, who seemed to have got excited following the incident. Shastri, on air, said: “In the air and taken! IND vs AUS 1st ODI Match So Far
Following the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne, Australia couldn’t return to its track as it was bundled out for mere 188 runs by the team India. Opener Mitchell Marsh looked determined to score against the Indian pacers who were breathing fire in the Wankhede Stadium earlier today. Marsh scored solid 81 runs from 65 deliveries before giving away his wicket to Ravindra Jadeja.
For team India, the pace duo of Mohammad Shami and Siraj scalped three wickets apiece while Ravindra Jadeja got two in his bag and Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav managed to bag one each before bundling Australia to a meagre total of 188 runs.
In response to a scanty total in a high-scoring venue, India too lost early wickets. The Indian top order had no answer to the probing spell of Mitchell Starc and Sean Abbott. The clueless Indian top order was dismissed at a score of 39 runs.
Captain Hardik Pandya and wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul performed rescue work to bring India’s innings back on track before the next dismissal. Hardik scored 25 runs from 31 deliveries before getting caught by Cameron Green against Marcus Stoinis.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul is still going strong at an unbeaten score of 39 runs from 60 deliveries. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who is currently batting at 16 runs, has joined forces with Rahul to take India’s innings further.
As of now, in 28 overs, India’s total score stands at 114 runs in the loss of five wickets. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja are in the middle.
