IND vs AUS 1st ODI: Strongest Playing11 for India & Australia: After successfully conquering the Asia Cup 2023, now it is time for some bilateral ODI action between India and Australia. The Men in Blue will play out the three-game ODI series against Australia, starting September 22, as their final preparation for the all-important ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

The IND vs AUS ODI series begins on September 22 in Mohali, the action will shift to Indore on September 24, and the final ODI will be held in Rajkot on September 27.

Team India will be riding high on confidence following the Asia Cup 2023 title victory against Sri Lanka. The Indian players showed their true colors throughout the tournament and ticked every box, which was a concern otherwise.

However, Australia will feel dejected after they lost three consecutive ODIs against South Africa recently to lose the five-match series after going 2-nil up. The Aussies will go back to the drawing board to figure out what went wrong for them.

The squads for the IND vs AUS 3-match ODI series have already been named by the respective cricket boards.

The BCCI has named a fairly young side for the first two India vs Australia ODIs, however, all the senior players will be back playing the final ODI in Rajkot. The move is learned to have been taken to avoid any unnecessary fatigue to the senior players before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

KL Rahul will lead India in the first two games, while Ravindra Jadeja will act as his deputy. Skipper Rohit Sharma will continue his duties from the third game onwards.

Australia on the other side will miss the services of Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head due to their respective injuries. But, the Aussies would be happy to welcome Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, and Glenn Maxwell into the team after recovering from injuries. The aforementioned players missed the recently concluded Australia tour of South Africa due to their injury concerns.

India Playing11: Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (c & wk), Tilak Varma, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd Siraj.

In the absence of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan would fall higher in the pecking order and hence he is likely to open with Shubman Gill. The management would want the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer to get maximum game time as they are named in the WC squad. Also, there would be a concern relating to Shreyas Iyer’s fitness.

R Ashwin, who ended his 20-month exile from ODI cricket, will also make a comeback and is certain to play all three ODIs against Australia.
