India batter Virat Kohli achieved a special milestone in the T20Is. He became only the second player in the history of the shortest format of the game to score 2000 runs while chasing. The batter achieved in the feat in the second T20I against Afghanistan

The second match of a three-match series between India and Afghanistan took place at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The hosts won the game by the margin of 6 wickets and bagged the series by the margin of 2-0 with one game to go. 

Virat Kohli, who made a return to the T20I format after 14 months, played a decent role in the game and helped India win the match. The batter came out with an aggressive mindset and what we saw was completely different from Kohli. 

He went after the bowlers right from the start and made sure that he kept his strike rate high. Kohli played some breathtaking shots in his innings and made the crowd go berserk in the stand and what was audible was “Kohli Kohli” chants.

Virat Kohli blasted 29 runs off 16 balls that making sure India got quick runs after Rohit Sharma got out early. The batter was just focused on attacking the ball and batted with a strike rate of over 181. The right-hander also smashed 5 boundaries in his innings. 

With his innings, Virat Kohli became only the 2nd player in history to score 2,000 runs while chasing. Overall while batting in the second innings, he has scored 2012 runs in 46 innings. He also has a rollicking average of 71.85 in chases and a strike rate of 136.96 to go with 20 half-centuries.

Virat Kohli is on the verge of achieving a special milestone in T20 cricket. The kingpin of the Indian batting lineup is all set to unlock the 12000 run mark in the shortest format of the game. 

Virat Kohli is just 6 runs away from achieving the feat. The batter currently has 11994 runs to his name and the last T20I against Afghanistan will be a great opportunity for him to achieve the feat.
