Ahead of the World Cup 2023, experts anticipated a lot of changes in the Men’s ODI Batting Player Ranking. However, the major focus was on the number one spot which was then taken by Pakistan skipper Babar Azam. Interestingly, India’s Shubman Gill was on track to close in on Babar and had only a few rating points separating them.

Another anticipation, among the pundits ahead of the tournament, was the likely surge of Virat Kohli back into the top ten rankings, which eventually became the reality. Virat climbed up the table, currently sitting at number 4, with his back-to-back hit performances in the World Cup 2023.

As things stand, the veteran players in the World Cup 2023 have put up a sublime show to improve their rankings. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and David Warner among others have scaled up the table.
