Rajasthan Royals batter Yashasvi Jaiswal impressed one and all in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The southpaw set the stage on fire with his breathtaking knocks and made batting look easy throughout the season. It was a breakout season for him and it’s fair to say that India’s cap might be far away.

Yashasvi Jaiswal outclassed many bowlers with his performance and also overshadowed the likes of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson and others in his team. He ended as a leader and run-getter for the team and was the main behind their success this season.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 625 runs in 14 games at a strike rate of 163.61. Also, he scored one hundred and 5 fifties this season. His impressive performance saw former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri making a bold call and saying that he should be in the mix for the World Cup.

“But I would put Tilak Varma, I would put Jaiswal, I’d put Rinku Singh. (They) are the candidates who can really push through along with Ruturaj Gaikwad, who’s been around for a while. These are the guys who can push for selection, depending on their form closer to the World Cup. And depending on injuries. If there are injuries to any key players, then these guys can come straight away into the mix.”Ravi Shastri had said.

However, Dinesh Karthik doesn’t agree with Ravi Shastri. He feels that there’s no need to fast-track Yashasvi Jaiswal into the ODI setup. He pointed out that instead he should be drafted into the T20I side. He explained.

“I don’t think Yashasvi needs to be fast-tracked into the ODI setup. He’s a young boy. He needs to be fast-tracked into the T20I setup. I think he needs to be one of the frontrunners for the T20 World Cup happening next year as there are only a limited amount of ODIs left to be played prior to this World Cup.”

It remains to be seen if Yashasvi Jaiswal will be drafted into the Indian T20 side after the IPL or not.
