ICC World Cup 2023: AB de Villiers backs this young player to be the leading run-getter in the World Cup 3

With ICC World Cup 2023 around the corner, former South African cricketer AB de Villiers has picked his leading run-getter for the tournament. The Proteas legend backed young Indian batter Shubman Gill to set the stage on fire in the mega event of the cricket

AB de Villiers said that Shubman Gill despite being young already looks like an experienced campaigner. He also talked about his technique and explained:

“He is still young, which is incredible because he looks like an experienced campaigner allready. We are going to heard a lot about him in the future and in this world cup as I think he is going to be the top run scorer.

“Shubman Gill is much more traditional, very straight forward technique. He doesn’t try a lot of different things. He does have a lot of strength where he can change the gears and put a lot of pressure on the bowlers.”

Shubman Gill has set the world cricket on fire ever since he debuted for India. The batter this year has been in the red hot form and is the leading run-getter in the ODIs this year. He also has smashed 5 centuries in the format this year and with the kind of platform he has given to team in every game will be crucial for India.

Shubman Gill was the leading run-getter in the Asia Cup 2023 and was one of the main reasons why his side won the title. It’s fair to say that going into the ICC World Cup 2023, he will be one of the crucial players for India.
