ICC Women's World Cup 2025: Points table after match 11, NZ vs BAN
After losing two back-to-back games, New Zealand finally registered a win in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 as they beat Bangladesh by 100 runs at Barsapara Stadium in Guwhati.
New Zealand were off to a poor start with the bat as the top three in Suzie Bates (29), Georgia Plimmer and Amelia Kerr lost their wickets early. With the team reeling at 38 for three, skipper Sophie Devine (63) and Brooke Halliday (69) joined hands and bailed the team out of trouble.
They soaked in all the pressure and hit a 112-run partnership for the fourth wicket that put pressure back on Bangladesh. Maddy Green (25) played a decent hand as well but the lower-order perished without contributing much as New Zealand’s innings posted 227. For Bangladesh, Rabeya Khan bagged three wickets.
In the chase, nothing went in favour of Bangladesh as they came up with a forgettable batting effort. They lost six wickets for just 33 runs with the top six batters failing to go past the five-run mark.
Fahima Khan (34) and Nahida Akter (17) tried to get going but the class of the New Zealand bowlers were too much for them to handle. Rabeya Khan (25) tried to support Fahima, adding 44 runs but both the batters couldn’t carry on as New Zealand bundled out Bangladesh for 127 to win by 100 runs.
