But following a 1-1 draw in their two-match series in South Africa, India dropped one rating point and are currently ranked second. Australia maintained their 118 rating points after defeating Pakistan in the opening two Test matches and they might gain one after the third match win.

“Australia’s impressive run at home against Pakistan helped it take the crown of the No. 1 Test team once again, having last held the spot briefly following its WTC Final victory,” the ICC stated in a release.

Australia have also taken India’s number one rank in the Latest updated ICC World Test Championship Points Table. Now India is placed at the second position in the World Test Championship points table following its win at Newlands with 54.16 percentage points from four Tests, including two wins, one loss and a draw.
