ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 venues announced, South Africa to host 44 games

The venues for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 have been announced on Saturday (23rd August) by Cricket South  Africa. The mega event will be co-hosted by Zimbabwe, Namibia, and South Africa and will be played in the latter half of 2027.

South Africa will be hosting the majority of the games in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. Out of 54 games, 44 will be played in South Africa, while 10 games will be played in Zimbabwe and Namibia, as confirmed by Cricket South Africa. 

In South Africa, the matches will be played in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, East London and Paarl. With all the wickets being good for batting and bowling, it promises to be an exciting tournament. 

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 will see Australia entering as the defending champions in the tournament. They defeated India in the final last time around to win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. They would be eager to defend their title and win their 7th title. 

Following the announcement, CSA chairperson Pearl Maphoshe said that they aim to set an inspiring stage which will reflect the face of South African cricket. 

“CSA’s vision is to stage a global, inspiring event which will reflect the face of South Africa — diverse, inclusive, and united,” he said. 

CSA president Rihan Richards also shared his take on the significance of the event. Speaking in an official statement, he said: 

“Twenty-four years have passed since the last ICC CWC tournament took place on African soil. This makes the 2027 CWC a sought-after opportunity to create a unique platform for attracting new fans while engaging existing fans through digital innovation, connecting with the African continent, and the world,” he
