Vivo IPL 2021: Australian young pacer Jason Behrendorffhas been brought in by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as a replacement of Josh Hazlewood who earlier pulled back from the fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League.

Till now he has played 11 ODI games and seven T20Is for his national side. Earlier in 2019, Behrendorffrepresented Mumbai Indians where he played five games and scalped as many wickets.

The left-arm speedster, Jason Behrendorffwill join CSK soon and start the quarantine period. It is almost certain that the pacer will have to miss out on at least two games due to BCCI’s Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs).

Josh Hazlewood had earlier announced that he will not be featuring in the IPL primarily due to rising covid 19 cases in India. He further citied he wants to be mentally sound and fresh for the year ahead where Australia will be busy with some exciting cricket.

“Covid concern was the main reason I pulled out. It all depends on how tight the bubbles are. Some are easier than others, and obviously, quarantine is a different story entirely. Everyone is different. I have no real issues,” he told Sportstar.

MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals (DC) in the second game of IPL 2021. The game will be held in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on 10th April 2021.
