ENGvsIND: Chris Woakes and Mark Wood are completely fit for selection of the 4th test against India

ENGvsIND: In delightful news for the English camp ahead of the fourth test match against India, pacer Chris Woakes and Mark Wood are completely fit for the selection for the forthcoming matches in the ongoing test series.

England Men’s team head coach Chris Silverwood confirmed the development and said that the two pacers will be added to the squad for the last two test matches.

Mark Wood sustained a shoulder injury during the second test match at Lords. The pacer hurt his right shoulder while fielding. On the other hand, all-rounder Chris Woakes has completely recovered from his heel injury and is all set to make his return.

Woakes played a domestic match on Friday to confirm his fitness and will be a key addition for the Englishmen in absence of Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes.

“Both of them have come through fine. Wood was bowling yesterday morning. He will be available for the selection and Woakes has played so he becomes available again,” said Chris Silverwood a day after England levelled the series.

In another development, wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler is very likely to miss the final two test matches against India to attend the birth of his second child. In that case, Jonny Bairstow will don the wicketkeeping gloves for the hosts.

“Yes, I am confident that Jonny can do the job if asked and yes Jonny would want to do the job if asked. We have had already had those conversations. He is happy to do that,” replied Silverwood on asked whether Jonny Bairstow is up for the role.

The fourth test match will begin on 2nd September at Kennington Oval. The five matches test series is levelled at 1-1 after three matches. 

England and India, both are expected to undergo a couple of changes before they head out for the toss in the 4th test. England is likely to rest Sam Curran while India will be eager to bring in Ravichandran Ashwin in the playing11.
