The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday has decided to advance a couple of Indian cricketers’ names for the sporting honours of the country.

As per the reports available, premier Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and women’s cricket great Mithali Raj’s names have been forwarded for the Rajeev Gandhi Khel Ratna, India’s highest sporting honour.

For the Arjuna Award, the name of ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah along with batsman KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan will be pushed ahead.

“No women cricketer has got her name nominated for the Arjuna Award.  Team India’s Women’s skipper Mithali Raj has been recommended for Rajeev Gandhi Khel Ratna,” said a senior BCCI official to PTI.
