Brisbane Heat ended their trophy drought and registered their second BBL Trophy after 11 years however, Brisbane played superb cricket in the BBL 2023-24 Final.
The Player of the Match was Spencer Johnson as he took four crucial wickets in his four overs spell and led his team to victory. Brisbane Heat won their first BBL title in the 2012-23 edition but now, they join Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers to win the multiple Big Bash League Titles. It was a good game between Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League 2023-24 Finals.
Brisbane Heat played dominating cricket throughout the BBL 2023-24, especially in the group stage where they won all their games but lost the last group stage match against Perth Scorchers by 35 runs and then they also lost the qualifiers against Sydney Sixers by 39 runs but won the BBL 2023-24 Finals against Sixers by 54 runs.
Sydney Sixers batted first and they scored a decent 166 runs on the scoreboard with a loss of eight overs, Josh Brown played phenomenal cricket as he scored 53 runs in 36 balls whereas Matt Renshaw and Nathan McSweeney scored 40 and 33 runs, respectively and led their team to good total in the BBL 2023-24 Final.
Sean Abbott was the only bowler from the Sydney Sixers side to perform with the ball as he took four wickets whereas other bowlers didn’t perform well in the final match. While Chasing the target, the Sixers got all out by scoring just 112 runs on the scoreboard in 17.3 overs hence losing the BBL 2023-24 Final by 54 runs.
From the Batting Department of Sydney Sixers, Skipper Moises Henriques and Josh Philippe played decent innings of 25 and 23 runs, however, they didn’t get support from other players. Brisbane Heat bowlers dominated the Sydney Sixers in the second inning, Spencer Johnson took four wickets whereas Xavier Bartlett and Mitchell Swepson took two wickets each.
