Another Australian Legend Announced Retirement from All Formats; Alyssa Healy Marks This Date for Her Farewell!
Australian women’s cricket is set to witness the end of a golden chapter as Alyssa Healy has officially announced her retirement from all forms of international cricket. The dynamic wicketkeeper-batter will bid farewell to the game after the upcoming multi-format home series against India, scheduled in February-March 2026.
Healy confirmed that she will not take part in the T20I matches of the series, allowing Australia to focus on preparations for the T20 World Cup later this year. However, fans will still see her lead the side in the ODI leg and the one-off day-night Test at Perth starting on 6th March, which will mark the final Test appearance of her remarkable career.
Making her international debut in 2010 at just 19 years of age, Healy quickly became known for her fearless batting and sharp work behind the stumps. Over a career spanning more than 15 years, she has grown into one of the most influential players the women’s game has ever seen. She also took over as Australia’s full-time captain in 2023, following the retirement of Meg Lanning, and led the team to several memorable moments, including a dominant Ashes whitewash.
A Career Filled with Records, Trophies, and Memories
Healy will retire as an eight-time World Cup winner, having played a key role in six T20 World Cup and two ODI World Cup triumphs. Known for changing games at the top of the order, she also holds the record for the most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in women’s T20 internationals.
Speaking about her decision, Healy said the competitive fire that drove her for years has slowly faded, and the timing now feels right. Ending her career at home, in front of family, teammates, and Australian fans, makes the farewell even more special.
