ENGvsIND 2nd Test: All-rounder Moeen Ali recalled by ECB ahead of ENGvsIND 2nd Test

ENGvsIND 2nd Test: All-rounder Moeen Ali recalled by ECB ahead of ENGvsIND 2nd Test.

ENGvsIND 2nd Test: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Tuesday recalled its premier spin all-rounder Moeen Ali for the 2nd and further test matches. The second test between India and England will begin on 12th August at the home of cricket Lord’s.

The opening test at Trent Bridge concluded in a draw following rain’s interruptions on complete day 5.

According to an England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) report, Ali will train with the English squad on Tuesday and will be available for selection for the 2nd test match.

The call was made after consecutive failures from the English top order barring the skipper Joe Root, who plundered a half-century and a century in the two respective essays of the first test.

India bundled the hosts for 183 in the first innings while in 303 in the second innings. Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah picked nine wickets in the entire match while Mohammad Shami and Shardul Thakur picked four each.

Chris Silverwood, English men’s head coach, informed the English media that Ali was on consideration due to the absence of Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes.

“Moeen is certainly under consideration. He’s always been part of our consideration. We know he is a fine cricketer and we know he is showing fine form in the Hundred at the moment, though I appreciate it’s a different format,” said Chris Silverwood.

“All-rounders such as Ben Stokes or Chris Woakes usually give you options all-round. Unfortunately, we’ve found ourselves squeezed through circumstance recently and we haven’t been able to do that,” Silverwood added.
