The 25-year-old English star Harry Brook has had an exceptional start to his test career. He has continued his run-scoring habit in red-ball cricket in the ongoing three-match test series against New Zealand. Brook has slammed two centuries in the first two tests, which has helped him to overtake Root to climb to the No. 1 spot in test cricket.
Root held the No. 1 ranking since July 2024, after replacing Kane Williamson. But Brook's incredible consistency has earned him a No. 1 spot. Notably, Root slammed a century in the second test in Wellington and has 897 rating points. But Brook has one more rating point (898) than him.

In the first test against New Zealand, Harry Brook slammed 171 off 197 balls to help his team win. In the second test, he scored 123 off 115 balls in the first innings and 55 off 61 balls in the second innings. As a result, he also won the Player of the Match award.
In three innings, Brook has scored 349 runs at an average of 116.33 and a strike rate of 93.57, with two centuries and one fifty. His brilliant form has helped England take a 2-0, unbeatable lead in the series against New Zealand and also helped him become the new leading batter in Test cricket.
Root has slipped to second spot. Kane Williamson (812 rating points) and India's Yashasvi Jaiswal (811 rating points) have retained their positions and are in third and fourth place, respectively. Australia's Travis Head, who slammed a blistering 140 off 141 in the day-night test at Adelaide Oval, has jumped six spots up to fifth.
He is the highest-ranked Australian on the list. Kamindu Mendis has moved one spot up to sixth, while South African captain Temba Bavuma, who finished two tests against Sri Lanka with 327 runs, moved three spots up to seventh.
Rishabh Pant has dropped three spots down to ninth. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have slipped six and five spots to 20th and 31st, respectively. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah has retained his spot as No. 1 test bowler in the world.

The Champions Trophy 2025 tickets have been divided into multiple categories including First Class, General-Enclosure, VIP, Premium &amp; VVIP, ensuring that the fans get the chance the chance to choose according to their needs and preferences.
The Semi-Final knockout matches, which are obviously anticipated to draw crouds in huge numbers, will have a higher base price for the tickets, with the minimum rate set at 2,500 Pakistani Rupees (776 Indian Rupees).

As per the reports in Times India, it is learned that the fast bowler's return to action so far seems to have no clarity. 
Jasprit Bumrah has been advised bed rest so that his muscles recover and the swelling gets over. Following that, he will be moving to the newly built NCA of the BCCI, which is known as the Center of Excellence for his recovery and rehabilitation process. 
The BCCI are hopeful that the fast bowler doesn't have a disc bulge or muscle swelling, which is of a higher grade. This might rule him out of cricketing action for a longer period of time and leave a massive void in the Indian team, especially with important assignments around the corner. 
The Board of Control for India doesn't want to rush Jasprit Bumrah back into the action. So far, there hasn't been any clarity on what is the exact nature of the injury, but if it's more than the back swelling, then there are chances his return could take longer than expected.

A source close to BCCI confirmed the development, saying that they will be deciding on a future course of action once there is clarity. He said that they want to make sure that talent like Bumrah is preserved. Speaking to the Times of India, he explained: 
"Bumrah could go to the CoE next week, but right now, there is no fixed date yet. He has been advised bed rest at home to help the muscles recover and the swelling to subside. Once that is done, the future course of action will be ascertained," said a well-placed source. 
"Bed rest doesn't sound good. I hope it's not a disc bulge or a muscle swelling which is of a higher grade. The approach has to be similar with him - wrap him in cotton wool and preserve the talent like him," added the source. 
Earlier, there were reports which claimed that Jasprit Bumrah would be back in action during the later stages of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The report said that the pacer will miss the league stage and could return to action during the semi-final and final.

Amid all the rumours, BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla rubbishef off all the reports. He said that there is no rift between Ajit Agarkar, Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma. As quoted by PTI, he explained: 
“It’s a completely wrong statement; there is no rift between the chairman of selection (Ajit Agarkar) and the coach; there is no rift between captain and coach. This is all rubbish which is being spread in a section of media."
Rajiv Shukla also confirmed that Rohit Sharma will continue as the skipper and all the statements have been going wrong. He said that form is temporary and they are confident that he will be back. 
“This is also wrong that Rohit has insisted on captaincy. He is the captain. Form or lack of form is part and parcel of the game. These are phases, nothing new. When he saw he was out of form, he dropped himself from the fifth Test." 
Rohit Sharma has been going through a rough patch, but the batter has been training with the Mumbai Ranji Team. He will be next seen in action for India in the England ODI series.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir has come under a massive scanner for his poor coaching. However, BCCI has now decided to take the harsh step, and his future as head coach of the team will solelyy depend on how the team performs in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. 
As per the reports in PTI, it is learned that the BCCI will reevaluate Gautam Gambhir's position as head coach based on India's Champions Trophy performance next month. There have been several concerns over the rift in the dressing room because the head coach wants to end the superstar culture in the team. 
Ever since Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the head coach of the Indian team, things haven't looked good for the team. They lost the ODI series against Sri Lanka in 27 years, lost the home Test series against New Zealand and also lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, failing to qualify for the ICC World Test Championship final.

A source close to the BCCI made a massive statement, saying that if India doesn't do well in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, he might be sacked. The source added that the head coach hasn't done anything good as of yet. Speaking to PTI, he explained: 
"If India doesn't do well in the Champions Trophy, the head coach's position could become untenable. Yes, his contract runs till the 2027 World Cup but the process of evaluation continues. Sport is result-oriented and till now, Gambhir hasn't given any tangible results." 
The source added that Gautam Gambhir wants to the end superstar culture in the ,team which hasn't gone well with many in the side. He explained: 
"Gambhir wants to end the superstar culture that has been prevalent for so many years now. As captain of Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012, he had dropped Brendon McCullum from the playing XI for the IPL final against CSK. He has come here to dismantle the superstar culture and that's what has caused discomfort for some playing members." 
The reports also claimed that selection committee also aren't happy with Gautam Gambhir. The Ajit Agarkar-led side don't want head coach to have too much of a say in selection matters. With all the tides against him, the future looks bleak for him and hence ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be extremely important for him.
