“No Deal” Delhi Capitals Block KL Rahul Trade Attempts From KKR | IPL 2026 Auction
Delhi Capitals have blocked all trade attempts for KL Rahul from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the IPL 2026 Auction. For the last couple of days, a massive rumor has been about KL Rahul moving to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The star Indian batter has been in trade discussions for weeks now, but the Delhi Capitals have strongly refused to release him.
Kolkata tried multiple combinations and swap offers, but DC stayed firm and blocked every possible attempt. The deal could not happen between the two franchises due to trade demands and strategic priorities. KKR is looking for some experienced players who can lead their side after the disappointing IPL 2025 season, and KL Rahul was the perfect choice for them.
KL Rahul has been a consistent performer in the Indian Premier League and a proven match-winner and team leader. Delhi Capitals bought him for a whopping Rs. 14 crore price in the IPL 2025 auction, and Rahul scored over 500 runs in the last edition for DC.
KL Rahul to KKR? Why the Deal Failed?
KKR has been looking for a leadership change ahead of the IPL 2026; they want someone who can become the face of their franchise and guide youngsters. KL Rahul was the perfect choice for KKR, and they proposed DC with some swap offers, but Delhi were never convinced to trade one of their best performers of IPL 2025.
3 Swap Offers Proposed by KKR?
According to reports, the Kolkata Knight Riders made three different proposals to the Delhi Capitals for KL Rahul.
KL Rahul for Sunil Narine:
Delhi Capitals demanded a player with a similar impact, but KKR were open to Sunil Narine only, and then DC did not agree because they are looking for long-term investment.
KL Rahul for Rinku Singh and Angkrish Raghuvanshi:
In the second swap option, DC came up with two young high potential players, Rinku Singh and Angkrish Raghuvanshi. KKR refused because they didn’t want their home grown players to be swapped or released.
KL Rahul, Harshit Rana, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi:
DC gave another proposal for KL Rahul, they wanted Harshit Rana and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, but KKR again refused, as these players are high-potential players and they will be part of the core squad in the upcoming seasons.
Sanju Samson Deal Closing soon:
As per the media reports, the Delhi Capitals are closing the deal with the Rajasthan Royals to bring Sanju Samson into their squad. DC offered Tristan Stubbs and one uncapped player (name not finalized yet) for Sanju, and both the franchises are on the verge of closing this deal.
