Fans on Twitter reacted after Indian Head coach Gautam Gambhir preferred Harshit Rana over Arshdeep Singh in the Indian XI for the first T20I against the Australian Cricket Team. The match between the two teams took place at the  Manuka Oval, Canberra. 

The Indian Cricket Team surprised many with their selection as Arshdeep Singh, who is the leading wicket-taker for India in the T20Is, was benched with team management picking Harshit Rana, who is touted as the favourite of head coach Gautam Gambhir. 

Arshdeep Singh, who was decent with the ball in the two ODIs against Australia, was dropped for the third ODI as well with the team sticking with Harshit Rana. With Arshdeep being a T20I stalwart, it was expected that he would play the T20I series. But that wasn’t the case.

Arshdeep’s absence, thankfully didn’t cost India much as the first T20I between Australia and India was abandoned, thanks to the rain. Asked to bat, India had a great start with the bat as Abhishek Sharma (19) and Shubman Gill (37*) added 35 for the opening stand. 

Following that, skipper Suryakumar Yadav (39*) joined his deputy and the duo did further carnage, adding an unbeaten 62 runs for the second wicket. India were all set to get a big score but rain came and washed out the game.
