The second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), WPL 2024, is all set to commence on February 23rd. Last year’s finalists, the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals, will square off against each other in the opening encounter of the WPL 2024 at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, the Mumbai Indians won the inaugural season of the WPL by defeating Meg Lenning’s Delhi Capitals in the final.

WPL 2024 will kick off on February 23rd, with the final set to take place on March 17th, 2024. Just like last year, a total of five teams will compete against each other in 22 matches to get their hands on the precious WPL Trophy. This year, the matches will be played in the cities of Delhi and Bengaluru.

The 22 matches of the Women’s Premier League will take place in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium and Bangalore’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Both stadiums will play host to 11 matches each. A total of 20 matches will take place in the league stage. After the conclusion of the league stage games, the eliminator and the final will be played between the top three teams of the league stage. The team that manages to finish at the top of the overall standings will directly qualify for the WPL 2024 Final, while the second and third placed teams will battle it out against each other in the eliminator in order to secure their place in the Final.

This season, double-header matches will not be witnessed, as only one match per day will be played throughout the 24-day duration of the WPL 2024. The eliminator is scheduled to be played on March 15, while the final of the WPL 2024 will take place on March 17 at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The five participating teams for this year’s Women’s Premier League are:

Gujarat Giants (GG)
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
Delhi Capitals (DC)
UP Warriorz (UPW)
Mumbai Indians (MI).
