Update! What Happened to Shubman Gill? Shubman Gill Injury Update For IND vs SA 1st Test

Team India received an early scare on Day 2 of the IND vs SA 1st Test at Eden Gardens when captain Shubman Gill retired hurt after facing just three balls. Gill walked in to bat at No.4 right after Washington Sundar’s dismissal, but his stay at the crease was cut short due to a sudden neck strain.
Simon Harmer, bowling round the wicket, tested Gill straightaway. After defending his first two deliveries, Gill played a clean slog sweep for four. But as soon as he completed the shot, he appeared uncomfortable and grabbed the back of his neck. The physio rushed in, and after a brief assessment, Gill decided not to take any risk and walked off the field.
At that moment, India’s score was 79/2, and Rishabh Pant replaced him in the middle. This match is Gill’s first Test innings since recovering from his previous injury during the England tour, making the situation even more worrying for fans.
So far, the BCCI has not released an official update, but the injury does not appear to be serious. Reports suggest he is going for some quick scans, and if nothing serious, he should be back in some time. The signs suggest it may just be a minor sprain, and the hope is that Gill will be able to bat later in the day if required.
India went into lunch at 138/4, losing Washington Sundar, KL Rahul, and Pant in the session. While the batting effort has been steady, Gill’s fitness remains the biggest point of concern for Team India.
Fans will be eagerly awaiting the next update, but for now, the situation appears precautionary rather than alarming.
