<p>The IPL 2023 season will begin in just a few days. The BCCI has always tried to make the IPL interesting. It has tried by introducing new teams, new players, and several unique concepts. The ?Impact Player? rules are another such attempt at making the IPL interesting. But what exactly is the rule about? What are the details of that rule? Does it mean that a team can have 12 players? Here is a look at all the details of the latest ?Impact Player? rule introduced by the BCCI for the IPL 2023:&nbsp;</p>



<h2>IPL 2023: ?Impact Player? Rule:&nbsp;</h2>



<p>The Impact Player rule looks to be very simple. The IPL 2023 teams can nominate 4 substitute players in the team sheet and one of these players can be used as an ?Impact Player? throughout the game. For example, if Jasprit Bumrah is not playing a game for the Mumbai Indians but Rohit Sharma wants him to at least bowl the death overs, Rohit can nominate him in the team sheet as a substitute and bring him on as an ?Impact player? in the 16<sup>th</sup> over of the Mumbai bowling innings. But there are a few intricacies to this rule.&nbsp;</p>



<h2>?Impact Player? Rule doesn?t allow 5 Overseas, at a&nbsp;time only 4 Overseas Players are Allowed:&nbsp;</h2>

<p>The ?Impact Player? rule mostly will be applicable only to Indian players. It will be applicable for the overseas players only in the case of the team starting with 3 overseas players. Basically, at a time there cannot be more than 4 foreign players in a team. This can be understood by an example. &nbsp;</p>



<p>If the Mumbai Indians have Pollard, Sams, Mills, and Time David on the pitch already, they cannot bring on Riley Meredith as the ?Impact Player?. As that will take the number of overseas players to 5. But if the Mumbai Indians have started with Pollard, Sams, and Mills being the only overseas players in the 11, they can bring on Tim David any time as they will have only 4 overseas players on the pitch at that time. &nbsp;</p>



<h2>When Can the Impact Player Be called to Play?&nbsp;</h2>



<ol start="1">
<li>Before the start of the innings.&nbsp;</li>
</ol>



<ol start="2">
<li>After completion of an over.&nbsp;</li>
</ol>



<ol start="3">
<li>in case of a batter, at the fall of the wicket, or the batter retiring at any time during the over. (But the impact player cannot bowl the rest of the over)&nbsp;</li>

<h2>Other Key Points about the ?Impact Player? Rules in IPL 2023:&nbsp;</h2>

<li>Once a player is replaced by an ?Impact Player?, the replaced player or the one who was playing earlier cannot come back on the field. He cannot even be bought on as a substitute fielder. Once replaced, the player is totally out of the match. &nbsp;</li>

<li>An ?Impact Player? cannot act as captain. &nbsp;</li>

<li>In the case of the bowling team having an ?Impact Player?, the player can bowl his full quota of 4 overs in an uninterrupted game irrespective of how many overs have been bowled by the player he replaces. If Ravi Bishnoi replaces Krunal Pandya for LSG after Pandya has bowled 2 overs, Ravi Bishnoi still gets a chance to bowl his 4 overs in any way. &nbsp;</li>

<p>The TATA IPL 2023 just got bigger and better. The BCCI has incorporated a few more interesting rules to make the games more interesting and fun to watch. The ?Impact Player? rule is one such rule that allows the teams to bring on a substitute player. It has many layers and levels to it. Hence this article covers all the questions related to the new rules that the BCCI has introduced for the TATA IPL 2023:&nbsp;</p>



<h2>Impact Player Rule to Be Introduced in TATA IPL 2023:?</h2>

<p>This is a one-of-a-kind rule. This allows the teams to substitute players at any time in a match. At the beginning of the game at the time of the toss, the teams will give 13 names or a starting 13 and they will reveal the playing 11 posts during the toss. The TATA IPL 2023 is the second league to introduce this rule. It was previously tested in the recently concluded SA20 League. Here is all you need to know about the ?Impact Player? rule:?</p>

<li>At any point of time in the match, the teams are allowed to make a substitution and change one player to another. &nbsp;</li>

<li>If a batting team makes a substitute player or introduces an ?Impact Player? the player who has been replaced will not be allowed to participate in the game further. He cannot participate as a substitute fielder too.&nbsp;</li>
</ol>

<li>If the bowling team decides to make a substitution, the player who will be bought on will get his full quota of 4 overs irrespective of the player who has been replaced. ?</li>

<li>At a time there can only be 4 foreign players on the field or as a part of the playing XI. This means that any substitution can be made, but the teams need to ensure that only 4 overseas players are in the XI. ?</li>

<h2>Rule if the Team Has a Slow Over-Rate:?</h2>

<li>Every bowling team is given a designated amount of time to bowl its full quota of 20 overs. ?</li>
</ol>



<ol start="2">
<li>If the bowling team exceeds that quota, the bowling team will be permitted to keep only 4 fielders outside the 30-yard circle for the time that gets extended. &nbsp;</li>
</ol>



<ol start="3">
<li>For example, if the Mumbai Indians have been given time from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm to bowl it?s 20 overs but they have managed to bowl only 18 overs in that span. For the rest of the two overs, they will have to bring one additional fielder inside the circle.&nbsp;</li>
</ol>



<h2>Unfair Movement By Fielder to Be Penalized in TATA IPL 2023:?</h2>



<p>Unfair movement of any fielder will also be penalized by 5 penalty runs in the TATA IPL 2023. The same is applicable to wicket-keeping flaws. This unfair movement includes motion at the time of the bowler?s run-up. It also includes ?fake fielding? that leads to misjudgment by the batter. All of these will result in 5 penalty runs awarded to the batting side. ?</p>
